Amazed

I am amazed at the questions a five year old can come up with... I mean... this is just the partial list from today:

What will happen when all the people in the world die?

Why did God create all the things in the world?

How do moms and dads fix it so they don't have babies?

(I sense an impending discussion of how babies are made in the first place...)
(And why oh why, isn't it ever when Daddy is home that these whoppers are dealt out???)

Looks like you just did write them down. I agree! Trust me, Ian came by his frequent Big Stumpers honestly, Daughter of mine. The apple does not fall far from the tree. I know you will do your best to answer him truthfully, thoughtfully, and simply. He's not asking for an essay.

Oh but I'm so good at the "essay" length version rather than the short and sweet one! But the value of "that's a good question - I will answer it at (some later time)" is becoming very apparent. Buying time to think before responding helps a lot!

There's nothing wrong with telling him that you need to think about the question before you answer it. Another benefit is, that lets Ian know you are taking his thoughts and questions seriously. So you'll HAVE to write it down to remember it. Then you can discuss it with Matt; and he can talk to Ian, too.
